Denison has much to offer its residents from its wonderful public parks and
covered pool to a nationally recognized hospital and exemplary public school

The Denison Police and Fire Departments have a proven record
of keeping Denison safe. With 45 police officers and 53 firefighters, there is
always someone available right when you need them. The Police Department
recognizes its responsibility to protect the lives and property of the citizens
in the community. Their goals are to prevent crime from occurring and citizens
from becoming victims. The Fire Department's mission is to save lives, protect
property and promote safety. They accomplish this mission by providing
emergency medical and fire fighting services to the citizens and by emphasizing
fire safety education.
Denison is home to nine city parks, two city softball
complexes, one special use city plaza, one county run park, two state parks,
and the grand Lake Texoma making it a mecca for outdoor recreation. Whether you
are looking to take a dip in the indoor 25 meter swimming pool, go boating on
89,000 acre Lake Texoma, hike around Waterloo Lake Park, mountain bike through
Eisenhower State Park, play a game of soccer at Raynal Park, enjoy a softball
game at T-Bar fields or have a Sunday picnic at Munson Park; Denison has an
outdoor venue to suit your needs.
Education plays a vital role in Denison's quality of life.
From our exemplary schools within the DISD to private schools, our institutions
provide the educational tools needed for our youth. DISD has ten campuses which
include one high school, one alternative school, one middle school, and seven
elementary schools. Denison also has one private school, grades kindergarten to
third, and numerous pre-school programs. For higher education, Grayson County
College is located in Denison and Austin College is located just a few miles
south in Sherman. Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma,
is only thirty minutes to the north and the University of North Texas is
located less than an hour's drive to the west in Denton.
